- TASTING NOTE / ABOUT THE WINE: This is Olek's only wine made with bought in fruit. He purchases Barbera from vineyards in the drier part of Asti, only contracting with several older-school growers who can farm these drier parcels with far lower chemical inputs compared to others. Some of the vineyards are sustainable, some organic. Fermented in concrete tanks, bottled unfined, with a very light filtering. The idea is to make a super fresh table wine meant for everyday drinking of which there actually is wine available, as the 6ha estate vineyards Bondonio farms always results in extremely limited quantities. This is a juicy, fruit driven Barbera (blue berries, plums) with a fine, fresh tannin profile compared to most other Barbera's in the region.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Olek Bondonio's farm in Barbaresco, “La Berchialla”, has been in his family for over 200 years, yet has only been producing wine under his own label since 2005. Since the winery’s conception he has remained committed to working with the least amount of chemical input, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. This groundwork makes for healthy fruit that allows him to adopt a hands off approach after harvest - he works strictly with indigenous yeasts and minimal additions of sulphur. Traditional vinification methods are favoured, producing wines that are indicative of fruit and place. He cultivates Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo. The main vines are close to the Tre Stelle frazione of Barbaresco and in addition to this parcel there are also rented plots in Neive and Alba, which he personally tends.

Q: Can someone else pickup my order?
A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
