- TASTING NOTE: Tropical aromas of passionfruit and ripe mango. The palate is fresh, incredibly textured, and filled with lemongrass, fresh ginger and a kefir lime acidity slicing through the almond oil bitterness and apricot kernel texture lingering on the finish.
- ABOUT THE WINE: This orange wine is made of 100% Verdicchio grapes from Le Marche’s province of Macerata. Wild ferment in open top fermenters with extended skin contact.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: The Marche region has become a beautiful melting pot of classic fine wine and nouveau producers revitalizing ancient techniques with their indigenous varieties. In a micro sense, that also describes Tenuta di Tavignano and their fledgling ‘I Love Monsters’ label. Rewind to the late 80s and early 90s, it was a very similar story in Marche as it was in Tuscany and Veneto where the native local varieties were being replanted to Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay and the like (the ‘International’ varieties in Italian speak). So it was with interest that the knowing few watched Stefano Aymerich actually plant Verdicchio in the most favoured parcels of the estate which he had just purchased off the road from Ancona to Macerata. His choice turned out to be an inspired one. Verdicchio now makes arguably Italy’s greatest white wines thanks mainly to people like Stefano Aymerich who grew it properly, controlled vine densities and allowed the fruit’s natural character to talk. Of the 35ha under vine, most are planted to the white Verdicchio.

A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
