- TASTING NOTE: The wine is high toned and lifted with light, fine but layered perfume of dried red flowers, liquorice and roasted fennel seed. Its medium bodied with a sinewy textured feel while maintaining an ethereal element. Its packed with layered flavors of fresh herbs, black fruits and a fine mineral freshness. Its a wonderful classicly styled Barolo from a cool, elevated vineyard and made with a light touch - beautiful!
- ABOUT THE WINE: The Barolo Perno is from vines planted in 1986, adjacent to Bartolo Mascarellos' plot of vines in Perno, from a single vineyard in the Cru Santo Stefano. They're farmed in a similar fashion with organic practices and a great detail of care in the vineyard. Spontaneous fermentation, then kept on skins for 20 days maceration, before aging for 24 months in old Botti then maturing for 18 months in the bottle.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Paolo Giordano is a new estate and cantina born in 2015 in Monforte d'Alba. However, the history of the estate stretches' back to 1939 when 3 brothers purchased a farmhouse in Perno and the adjacent land that was planted to Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and began producing wine as Azienda Agricola F.lli Seghesio. It was with the death of the last brother in 1994 that the del Castelletto family of "Seghesio Aldo e Riccardo" purchased the majority of the vineyards and also the name. This is the Azienda Agricola F.lli Seghesio we know today. The remaining land was split up between the rest of the family and leased to third parties. The cellar was abandoned until 2015 when Paolo and his wife decided to buy the land from her grandparents and go into production for themselves. In 2018 the first wine was bottled and thus Azienda Agricola Paolo Giordano was born. The estate has a mere 3½ hectares of vineyards all in the famous village of Perno, exclusively planted to Nebbiolo - 3 of which are in Barolo. With such a new project and no cantina to make the wines, Paolo turned to his good friend Massimo Benevelli who offered the use of his cellar. Processing took place at Piero Benevelli (also in Monforte d'Alba) thanks to the generosity of the Benevelli famly. This is where the first three vinifications were carried out (18, 19, 20), while waiting for the new cantina and cellar to be built in Perno. There are only two wines produced, Langhe Nebbiolo and Barolo, with an extremely limited production - about 3000 in bottles in total for 2018 and 4500 bottles expected for 2019.

A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
