- TASTING NOTE: Vibrant magenta with purple hues. A distinct ferrous character on the nose, with Szechuan pepper, brambly wild red and black fruits with a subtle violet lift. The palate is medium bodied with characteristic plums, spice and iron filings. Beautiful poise with lithe tannins and a fine boned structural finish.
- ABOUT THE WINE: Mourvèdre from dry-grown bush vines on the rich gravelly-loam soils of the Swinney Wilson’s Pool vineyard. Careful canopy management, fruit thinning and selective hand harvesting over multiple passes, all ensure we achieve as close to perfect fruit as possible. 22% whole bunches incorporate into wild fermentation. The wine spent 11 days on skins prior to pressing directly to fine grained, large format, seasoned French oak before being aged on lees, and bottled after 11 months in barrel. The wine was made with minimum effective sulphites, is unfined and minimally filtered.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: The Swinney family have been farming their property in Frankland River for 100 years. Today the property is run by fourth generation brother and sister, Matt and Janelle Swinney. Bush vines litter the property. Riesling, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre are finding a very happy home on the ironstone slopes above the Frankland River. The Swinney vineyard represents modern viticulture interwoven with Old-World techniques, executed with precision through a combination of exhaustive manual work and state-of-the-art technology, and all underpinned by an environmental focus.

Q: Can someone else pickup my order?
A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
