ABOUT THE WINE: Named for the 1957 Studebaker President Neil Prentice sold to buy the fenceposts for the first vineyard at Moondarra. From biodynamically grown grapes. The fruit is completely crushed and destemmed and undergoes an extended cold maceration before fermentation. After a long ferment the wine is drained to 500-litre puncheons. These larger vessels offer a fabulous way for the wine to interact with the yeast lees without adding oak tannin, rather relying on fruit tannin to give structure to the wine. Bottled unfiltered and with minimal sulphur (20ppm).

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Neil Prentice is one of Australia’s true wine identities. Part viticulture maverick, part scallywag (often seen instigating the dance floor at PinotPalooza), he has been at the forefront of biodynamics and Pinot production in Australia since the early 90’s. Growing up as a sommelier in the 80’s he developed an obsession for Burgundy, leading him to (in 1991) plant and farm Pinot Noir biodynamically on the family farm Walhalla, Gippsland. Neil’s wine styles have been heavily influenced by his original consultant wine makers: controversial Lebanese born Burgundy consultant Guy Accad, and Bruce Dowding who worked many vintages at J.F.Mugnier. Many of the techniques used are unique, and the resulting wines are unmistakably Moondarra, or as Neil call’s it “Pinot Noir’s with funkosite”. A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
