- TASTING NOTE: Deep earthy dark berry, cherry and plum fruits with a nice array of spices, black tea, floral notes, burnt orange, smoky mineral and soft wood shavings make for an outstanding Pinot Noir experience, showcasing old world charm, delicacy and elegance. With more air it comes alive with beautiful crushed flowers along with some savoury elements that added to the complexity of this fine effort. The Morey-Saint-Denis always rivals the more costly Chambolle but at a fraction of the price.
- ABOUT THE WINE: Fruit is sourced from 1ha of 10-year-old vines on a mix of red-brown clay with small rocks and limestone soils. 12 months maturation in 30% new oak.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: The Domaine of Michel Noellat is now run by sixth generation cousins Sophie and Sebastien Noellat since the early 2000’s. They have slowly and gradually tweaked the work in vineyards and cellars resulting in Burgundy enthusiasts quietly seeking out these wines considering the remarkable vineyard holdings they possess and the raised game they bring. Whilst history is valued at this Domaine, the future looks extremely bright under the guidance of Sophie and Sebastien. Gentle extractions, cool ferments, de-stemmed grapes (all sustainably grown) and carefully managed oak maturation produces beautifully seamless, highly aromatic Burgundy. The fruit is hand-harvested and carefully delivered to the winery in small containers to avoid crushing the berries. The average age of the vines across the vineyards is between 65 and 75 years old. Sophie and Sebastien are firm believers that one can only make wine as good as the grapes that you grow and therefore most of their time is spent in the vineyards.

A: Yes if they have your receipt. However all alcohol orders must be picked up by an individual 18 year or older. Proof of age and sobriety are required as per RSA regulation.
